Gildenmyth
The Tender Hour
A guided sleep meditation for anxiety at night, for the racing 3am mind and the fear of the dark, voiced gently by Nyx, the Greek goddess of night. A soft female voice guides you for the first 19 minutes, then almost 3 hours of calm ambient music carries you through the night.
The Greeks did not think the night was the frightening part. Nyx is older than the gods and older than the sky. Sleep is her son. So are dreams. In the Iliad, Zeus came to the edge of the dark looking for someone who had run to her, and he turned around and went home, because he would not do anything to displease swift Night. The Orphics went further and said he came to her with a question and asked the dark how to build the world.
So the dark is not the danger. The dark is the house that even Zeus would not enter, and tonight you are inside it. Nothing needs you now. Not until morning, and morning belongs to her sister.
This is part of The Goddess Meditations, a series of female voiced sleep meditations from The Tender Hour, each one guided by a goddess of old myth.
HOW TO USE
Lie down, dim your screen, and let it play. The voice fades after about 19 minutes so nothing wakes you; the ambient sound continues for almost three hours. Headphones optional. Set a low volume.
New sleep meditations every Monday, plus rituals on the new and full moons. Subscribe and turn on the bell so a goddess can sit with you each night.
